The army side, APR FC, secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Rutsiro FC in the Matchday 25 fixture of the Rwanda Premier League, held at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu District on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
APR FC entered the match with a clear goal of reclaiming the top position and started with high intensity and relentless attacking. In the 34th minute, striker Djibril Ouattara opened the scoring with a well-taken goal after receiving a precise pass inside the box.
Ten minutes later, in the 44th minute, Ruboneka Bosco doubled the lead with a powerful shot that Rutsiro FC’s goalkeeper, Matumele Arnold, failed to stop.
The first half ended 2-0 in favor of APR FC, and they returned for the second half still hungry for more goals.
In the 66th minute, Denis Omedi netted the third goal after skillfully bypassing the Rutsiro defense. Just three minutes later, Lamine Bah scored the fourth with a composed finish after receiving a well-placed ball.
APR FC sealed the emphatic win in the 76th minute when Victor Mbaoma scored the fifth goal, putting the result beyond doubt. It was a celebration both on the pitch and among the club’s enthusiastic fans.
With this win, APR FC climbed back to the top of the league with 52 points from 25 matches, two points ahead of Rayon Sports, who are set to face Etincelles FC on Sunday.
In other matches played on Saturday, AS Kigali drew 1-1 with Mukura Victory Sports, Musanze FC edged past Muhazi United 1-0, and Bugesera FC defeated Marines FC 2-1.
