On April 4, 2025, the Government of Rwanda confirmed the sad news of the passing of Alain Mukuralinda, who served as the Deputy Spokesperson of the Government. According to a statement released by the Government of Rwanda’s Press Office, Mukuralinda passed away at the King Faisal Hospital in Kigali following a heart failure.

The Government’s statement read: *”We are deeply saddened to announce the death of the Deputy Spokesperson of the Government, Mr. Alain Mukuralinda, who passed away after being admitted to KFH due to a heart failure.”*
It continued: *”The Government of Rwanda expresses its condolences to his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of working with him.”*
Alain Mukuralinda, aged 55, was reported to have passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 3, 2025. His death was first shared on social media, where friends and colleagues began to pay tribute, praying for his eternal rest. Many people praised his dedication and the role he played in the country’s development, offering condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Mukuralinda was a role model in Rwanda’s leadership circles, having served as the Deputy Spokesperson of the Government since December 14, 2021. Prior to that, he had worked as a Prosecutor and the Spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office. He was a highly skilled professional who made significant contributions to communication and governance within the government.
Mukuralinda received his primary education in Rugunga and completed his secondary education in economics at Rwamagana. In 1990, he earned a scholarship to study at the University of Rwanda. Three years later, in 1991, he continued his studies in Belgium, where he pursued degrees in Political Science and Economics.
In addition to his professional career, Alain Mukuralinda was known as a musician, and he gained recognition for his song “Tsinda, Batsinde,” which he wrote for the Rwandan national football team, Amavubi. He was also involved in creating songs for several other teams, including Kiyovu Sport and Rayon Sport.
