The devil can’t revisit this atrocity upon the people of Mavoko again. He is defeated. The estates of Njuguini and Slota in Athi River must be protected by all means to avert the impending demolitions. The last time it happened it left a trail of tragedy in the lives of people in Portland. It was hue and cry and gnashing of teeth all over.
People lost their lifetime savings in investment and their life’s were drastically affected reducing happy home owners to hapless, homeless and hopeless beggars. So many were hospitalised and others were left reeling in serious chronic ailments that they are nursing upto date. All their hopes of living were washed down the river of sorrow. Regrettably they are now back to square one in life. No clue where to start again.
Notwithstanding the circumstances under which they occupied the land, I must say without any fear of contradiction it was unfair and inhuman for the government to visit this tragedy or disaster upon innocent Kenyan citizens. It was a blatant abuse of their right to live quietly in comfort.
It was an infringement on the very basic rights jealously protected by the constitution. It opened a chapter for sincere conversation between the government, the affected people and elected leaders on the way forward to avert any such calamitous eventualities in future. So far nothing has happened. Kenyans have forgotten and moved on. Their memory is now jump started when we stare at a fresh disaster awaiting to happen. What do we do now that the clouds are gathering again ushering in another election el nino of abandon destruction of our beautiful homes?.
My minds wanders to the door step of Patrick Makau Mavoko Constituency MP. What have you done about the previous demolitions as we state st the impending ones?. Your complicity in the suspicious land allocations/ acquisitions is without doubt.
You have done nothing about illegal/illegitimate myriad land acquisitions in Mavoko. Instead you have sanitised and escalated it. You have promoted it.
You have provided refuge and protection to the untouchable wheeler dealers in all their illegal land dealings. You have promised to offer protection in the event of any threaten to the status quo. Land problems will never end in Mavoko for as long as Makau abounds. So long as he is the MP expect continuous land calamities. He does not careHe doesn’t bother. Go to hell with your land problems….. thus he says.He is synonymous to the historical land problems. He is the problem and the problem is Makau.
Now he is expected to step in but you have never heard him utter a word of castigation.
He is nowhere to be seen. He has vanished.I always wonder why has it taken so long for him to regularise all these illegitimate land allocations some of which he has initiated through the a available avenues and means of negotiation with the government or court process that recognises adverse possession which is available to the hitherto illegal settlers who access and remain on the land over the statutory period of 12 years ?.
Why hasn’t he initiated early preventive measures to counter the impending demolitions?.
He is an elected leader. He knows the problems of the people. He looks the other way. He does nothing. He then expects votes from the same same people who are so naive. So gullible. He feeds them on ake promises. Empty rhetoric. Where are we now.
The other time it took the intervention of the Kalonzo who literary went to court though belatedly to intervene for the victims of Portland demolition. Too bad the court could hear none of the stories advanced.
Makau is putting Kalonzo in a very awkward position. He wants to portray him in very negative light as a failure whose people are suffering. This must stop.
Kalonzo must know this and take decisive action.
Makau is now on the spot.
All the leaders including the incoming Mavoko Constituency MNA Dennis Oyunge must wake up early and explore all ways available to avert these demolitions.
