Six people from the same family, including children, were shot dead in Mandera County, Kenya, due to a clan vendetta, local authorities told BBC Somali.
The family were nomads living in the rural area where they had livestock.
Armed clan militia attacked the family in the middle of the night while they were sleeping and opened fire, as witnesses reported.
The incident shocked locals, and the police have launched an investigation.
The region has a history of clan-related violence, often stemming from disputes over resources such as land and water, which are crucial for the nomadic lifestyle.
Authorities are now concerned that this incident could escalate tensions between clans, leading to further retaliatory attacks.
