Zambart Donates to UTH Mother’s Shelter in Honor of International Women’s Day

AS the world celebrates International Women’s Day, Zambart, a renowned research organization, made a significant contribution to the University Teaching Hospital’s (UTH) Mother’s Shelter in Zambia.

This thoughtful donation was a beacon of hope for the women and girls residing at the shelter, and a testament to Zambart’s commitment to empowering women and promoting equality.

Zambart acting executive director Kwame Shanaube said the gesture of solidarity is in line with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “For all women and girls: Right, Equality, Empowerment.” DR Shanaube said Zambart’s donation was a powerful statement of solidarity with the women who gʻive life and contribute to the growth of the nation.

Dr Shanaube, emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives that promote women’s rights and well-being.

” We hope this small donation will go a long way on alleviating some e of the challenges the women at the Mother’s shelter have been facing. We want to support the Government to ensure the Universal Health Coverage becomes a reality, ” Dr Shanaube said.

She said the donated items, including essential cleaning materials and sanitary pads, will have a profound impact on the lives of the women and girls at the shelter.

“For many, these basic necessities are a luxury they cannot afford. The donation will help create a cleaner, healthier environment for mothers and their newborns, reducing the risk of infections and promoting overall well-being,” she said.

Zambart’s collaboration with UTH spans over 30 years, demonstrating the organization’s dedication to improving public health in Zambia.

By supporting the Mother’s Shelter, Zambart is reinforcing its commitment to promoting anti-natal and neo-natal services, crucial for reducing maternal and infant mortality rates.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, Zambart’s donation serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting initiatives that empower women and promote equality.

UTH Head of iClinivcare, Women and Newboarn Hospital Agripah Lungu appealed to other stakeholders to join forces to create a world where every woman and girl has access to quality healthcare.

Dr Lungu said while it was the manager of his institution to provide for the women and other people that were receiving treated at the hospital, success would only be attained with the assistance of the other stakeholders.

He appealed to Zambart to in the future extend their support to Maternity and Labour ward including the Intesice Care Unit for women.

One of the beneficiaries of the donation, ElizabethTembo thanked Zambart for the timely gesture.

She said many women at the Mother’s shelter lack basic requirements such as sanitary pads.
