This is according to a statement released yesterday by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe.
“The President’s visit represents a significant milestone in strengthening the longstandingBilateral relations between Zambia and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The visit will fosterCooperation in key areas including Energy, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Trade and Investment,Health, Transport, and Tourism,’’ the statement reads in part.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation says President Hichilema will undertake a State Visit to Cairo Egypt from today 23 rd to 25th February 2025.It says President Hichilema will hold bilateral talks with His Excellency Mr Abdel Fattah EL-Sisi,President of the Arab Republic of Egypt on key issues of mutual interest.
“The meeting will culminate into the signing of Memoranda of Understanding in key sectors.The high-level engagements will include a Business Forum organized by the Zambia
Development Agency (ZDA) and the General Authority for Free Zones and Investment (GAFF) of Egypt aimed at enhancing trade and investment opportunities, and promoting business
Partnerships between the two countries,’’ the statement reads.Mr Haimbe says the statement aligns with Zambia’s commitment to advancing Economic Diplomacy in order to attain sustainable development and shared prosperity.
Zambia and Egypt share strategic bilateral relations premised on common values and interests.This visit, therefore, provides an invaluable platform for the two countries to deepen the existingties and explore new opportunities for cooperation in targeted sectors for the benefit of thepeople.
The Arab Republic of Egypt’s experience in climate-smart crops and sustainable farming practices offers immense potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.President Hichilema will return to Zambia immediately after the conclusion of the engagements.
