The 2024/25 Rwanda National Volleyball Championship concluded on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Petit Stade in Remera, where APR VC (men) and Police WVC (women) claimed the championship titles after winning the decisive playoff matches in thrilling fashion.
Police WVC Wins First Championship in Club History
The day’s first match featured Police WVC and APR WVC in the women’s category. Both teams entered the final game tied at one win each, making the third and final game the title decider.
Police WVC started strong, winning the first set 25-23. APR WVC responded by taking the second set 25-20. However, Police WVC bounced back to win the third set 25-23 and continued the momentum to clinch the fourth set 25-22, securing the match 3-1.
This victory marked Police WVC’s first-ever national championship title since the club was established just two years ago — a significant achievement for the emerging team.
APR VC Reclaims Men’s Title
Following the women’s final, the men’s final between Police VC and APR VC took place, also with both teams tied at one win apiece. The match was highly competitive and filled with momentum shifts.
Police VC took an early lead, winning the first two sets 26-24 each. However, APR VC staged a comeback, dominating the third set 25-17 and the fourth set 25-15.
The fifth and deciding set proved intense, but APR VC prevailed 17-15, winning the match 3-2. This victory secured APR VC’s second consecutive championship title, reinforcing their dominance and composure in high-pressure situations.
Final Standings:
- In the women’s category, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA WVC) finished third after defeating Kepler WVC in two out of three playoff games.
- In the men’s category, REG VC claimed third place by beating Kepler VC in a similar fashion.
Prize Distribution
The championship-winning teams received RWF 2 million each, the second-place teams received RWF 1.5 million, while the third-place teams were awarded RWF 1 million.
With the 2024/25 season concluded, attention now shifts to the upcoming Genocide Memorial Tournament, set to begin in early June 2025.
