The President of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR), Dr. Frank Habineza, was elected as a senator on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, through the General Assembly of the National Consultative Forum of Political Organizations (NFPO).
He was elected alongside Nkubana Alphonse, representing the PSP party. The two are expected to replace senators Alexis Mugisha and Clotilde Mukakarangwa, whose terms will end on October 22, 2025, pending approval by the Supreme Court.
Dr. Habineza recently ran in the 2024 presidential elections, where he came in third with 0.53% of the vote. Prior to that, he served as a member of the Rwandan Parliament and is also the leader of the Green Party.
