Rwanda Premier League Referees Demand Payment for Their Work

Referees in the Rwanda Men’s First Division League are requesting their allowances because they have been working hard without receiving the money from the Rwanda Football Federation.

The league matches have reached six rounds, yet these referees have not received any payments, even though this money is what supports them in their profession while working unpaid.

According to information obtained from UMUSEKE, it has been two months since they received no allowances, even though before the league started, they held a meeting with the President of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), Shema Ngoga Fabrice, who assured them that their situation would improve.

At that time, they were told that each referee would receive 100,000 Frw per match as an allowance, and those assigned to officiate in the provinces would travel a day in advance to rest properly.

However, despite not having received any money from FERWAFA, the number of referees receiving sanctions continues to increase daily due to various mistakes made during league matches.
