Tanzania’s Parliament Mourns the Death of MP Jenista Mhagama

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mussa Azzan Zungu, has announced the death of Peramiho MP Jenista Joakim Mhagama, which occurred today, December 11, 2025, in Dodoma.

“With deep sorrow, I wish to announce the death of the Honourable Member of Parliament for Peramiho, Jenista Mhagama, which occurred on December 11, 2025, in Dodoma.

“I extend my condolences to all Members of Parliament, the bereaved family, relatives, and the residents of Peramiho Constituency. May Almighty God grant them patience and comfort during this difficult period,” Speaker Zungu stated in his announcement.

Mhagama, who served as an MP and a leader with significant contributions to public service, was born on June 23, 1967, and held various positions within the Government and the Parliament of Tanzania.

According to the statement, the Office of the National Assembly is working with the family of the deceased to coordinate funeral arrangements, and further information will be provided as plans are finalized.

“May Almighty God rest her soul in eternal peace, amen,” the statement read.

Following the MP’s death, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan said she received with great sadness the news of Mhagama’s passing.

“I extend my condolences to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mussa Azzan Zungu, the residents of Peramiho Constituency, the family, relatives, and friends,” she said.

President Samia noted that for 38 years, Mhagama was a dedicated member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), a youth leader, a women’s leader, a minister in various administrations, and a mentor to many in politics and life.

“May Almighty God rest her soul in eternal peace,” she said.
