Calum McFarlane appointed Chelsea interim manager following Liam Rosenior’s dismissal

By Seif Shaggy Gracien Hasingizwimana/Kigali/Rwanda

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Calum McFarlane as interim manager until the end of the current season. This decision follows the departure of Liam Rosenior, who was dismissed after only three months in charge, despite having signed a contract valid until June 2032.

McFarlane takes over while Chelsea continues the search for a long-term head coach. Having previously served as an assistant manager, he had also taken charge of responsibilities following Enzo Maresca’s departure from Chelsea in January this year. Among the matches McFarlane oversaw was a – draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

This coaching change comes as the club struggles with a poor run of form, having gone five consecutive Premier League matches without a win or a goal. This decline was further solidified by a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday, leaving Chelsea in seventh place in the league standings. Such statistics have not been recorded at the club since 1912.

Chelsea management stated that the decision to dismiss Liam Rosenior was not taken lightly, but was necessary as recent results fell below expectations. Everyone at Chelsea has wished Liam well in his future endeavors.
