APR WVC reclaims the throne in Women’s Volleyball

By Seif Shaggy Gracien Hasingizwimana/Kigali/Rwanda

After a two-year wait since their last title, APR Women Volleyball Club has once again demonstrated its prowess in high-level competition by clinching the 2026 Rwandan league championship. This victory followed a hard-fought match at Petit Stade in Remera this Saturday, where APR WVC defeated Kepler WVC by 3 sets to 2.

This third match solidified the legacy of the Rwanda Defence Force team, as they completed a 3-0 sweep in the “best of five” series. This means the remaining two games will no longer impact the title race, as Kepler WVC could not have surpassed APR’s three wins even if they had won all subsequent matches.

In the women’s category, Police WVC also performed impressively, securing third place and the bronze medal. Police WVC achieved this by defeating RRA in three consecutive matches, ending their league campaign on a high note.

Meanwhile, in the men’s category, the competition remains intense between Police VC and REG VC. Although Police VC entered Saturday’s match hoping to clinch the title, REG VC stood in their way, winning the match 3 sets to 1. This victory by REG VC prevented the champion from being crowned today, meaning both teams must wait for the fourth game scheduled for next Saturday, May 16, 2026. That match will determine whether Police VC secures the trophy or if REG VC will continue to challenge them.
