BK Arena erupts in celebration as Rwanda triumphs in front of President Kagame, APR Basketball Club showcased a high level of performance in the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL), defeating South Africa’s Made By Basketball (MBB) with a dominant 103-81 win in a match played on Sunday, May 18, at BK Arena in Kigali.

The high-stakes game was witnessed by a large crowd, including the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, and First Lady Jeannette Kagame. It was marked by the resilience and tactical strength of Rwanda’s military team, APR BBC, particularly in the third quarter when they took full control of the game and maintained their lead until the final whistle.

APR BBC got off to a promising start through a three-point shot by Ntore Habimana. MBB responded immediately, and the first half ended with APR trailing narrowly at 45-47.
In the third quarter, APR BBC returned to the court with renewed energy and determination, turning the tide of the game through strong performances by players such as Aliou Diarra and Youssoupha Ndoye. They outplayed MBB both defensively and offensively. This momentum carried into the fourth quarter, where MBB attempted to bounce back but was firmly held off, with APR BBC sealing a decisive 103-81 victory.

This win was of major significance for APR BBC as it greatly improved their chances of advancing to the BAL 2025 playoffs. The team now needs just one more victory in their remaining matches to secure a spot in the knockout stage.
The Nile Conference games will continue on Tuesday, when APR BBC will face Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya in a crucial match that could determine Rwanda’s place in the BAL 2025 final rounds.
