In an effort to promote industrial quality, the RSB Quality Academy has been launched in Rwanda. This school will help test and monitor the quality of products and materials manufactured locally as well as for the international market.
The RSB Quality Academy was established through cooperation between the Government of Rwanda, MINICOM, RSB, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The school was created through a five-year project aimed at enhancing technological capacity in industrial quality and metrology (SISIC). This project was launched in 2023 and will conclude in 2028, funded by a $7 million grant from KOICA.

Ritha Mahoro, one of the youth who studied industrial science, said: “We are ready to increase our knowledge and help industries implement it, enabling them to compete on the markets.”
Raymond Murenzi, the Director General of RSB, stated that this school will help train quality assurance professionals in industries as well as the private sector, so they can provide faster and more efficient services. He added: “Industrial development cannot be achieved without cooperation in promoting quality. Therefore, knowledge comes first.”

The Ambassador of Korea to Rwanda, Jeong Woo-jin, noted that apart from modern technology and infrastructure, this investment primarily aims to empower people through reliable knowledge. He said: “This school will serve as a strong platform to prepare professionals with the capacity to support business growth and help Rwanda achieve its goal of building a knowledge-based economy.”
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Antoine Marie Kajangwe, thanked the partnership between the Government of Rwanda and the Republic of Korea, stating that it plays a significant role in developing Rwanda’s industries. He noted: “Based on the achievements of the SISIC project, KOICA and the Government of Rwanda will continue to strengthen cooperation in developing quality infrastructure at the national level.” He further explained that this will also contribute to promoting industrial standards and enhancing the capacity of Rwandan industries to compete on the international market and boost the economy.

The RSB Quality Academy features a modern Smart Classroom that will help professionals enhance their knowledge in quality, metrology, testing, and certification, as well as build the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises.
