Rwanda and Senegal have signed an agreement establishing a joint cooperation framework between the Senegalese Agency for Investment Promotion (APIX) and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).
The agreement aims to facilitate investment, promote trade and economic cooperation, and foster the exchange of expertise between the two countries.
The agreement was signed in Kigali on Wednesday during the Rwanda-Senegal Business and Investment Forum, which brought together delegations from Rwanda and Senegal.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Juliana Kangeri, said that “Rwanda-Senegal trade cooperation has taken root, particularly in the agriculture and livestock sectors.”
Rwanda and Senegal enjoy strong relations based on economic cooperation, diplomacy, and joint development of the African continent.
Rwanda opened its embassy in Dakar in 2011.
The two countries have signed several agreements, including agreements on cultural cooperation (1975), general cooperation (2004), a joint permanent commission (2016), an air transport agreement (signed in September 2025), as well as cooperation agreements in the media sector.
In late August 2025, President Paul Kagame paid a visit to Senegal.
Meanwhile, in October 2025, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye visited Rwanda, where he held talks with President Kagame and jointly signed cooperation agreements in various sectors, including agriculture, health, and sports.
There are also strong relations between political party institutions, such as the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) and Senegal’s ruling party, PASTEF.
