A new basketball court has been inaugurated in Bugesera District, built through a partnership between the Government of Rwanda, NBA Africa, and the non-profit organization Opportunity International, as part of ongoing efforts to promote sports while also investing in youth and broader community development.

Located in Nyamata Sector near the local High School, the court offers new opportunities for young people in the area, who often face challenges in accessing proper sports infrastructure. Beyond nurturing talent, the facility is expected to become a hub for community engagement, bringing together students, teachers, and residents through educational, health, and social initiatives.

Amadou Gallo Fall, President of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), emphasized that the NBA has a long-term vision to contribute to Africa’s development through sports, with Rwanda being a key focus due to its commitment and strategic vision in empowering youth.

This initiative stands as a clear example of how sports can be a powerful tool for building inclusive societies, amplifying youth voices, and connecting communities through impactful and sustainable projects.
