Abe Diaw Requested to Drop His Case Against Chris Brown, But Prosecutors Move Forward

Abe Diaw, the man who filed a lawsuit against Chris Brown in 2023 accusing him of serious bodily harm, submitted a request to the court on June 27, 2025, to have his case permanently dismissed. In the legal documents he filed, Diaw indicated that he no longer wished to pursue the matter, which means he will not bring the case again in the future. Such a move is typically understood as the result of a mutual agreement between both parties.

However, it remains unclear whether a private settlement was reached between Abe Diaw and Chris Brown or if there are any undisclosed details surrounding the withdrawal. TMZ reported that attempts to contact the legal teams representing both parties were unsuccessful.

In his original complaint, Abe Diaw claimed that Chris Brown struck him multiple times with a tequila bottle during a party at TAPE nightclub in London. Diaw alleged that he lost consciousness after falling and that Brown continued to kick him while he was down, leaving him with lasting injuries.

Although the civil case may be closed, Chris Brown is still facing a separate criminal case filed by UK prosecutors. He was arrested by police earlier in 2025 and charged with assault and possession of an illegal weapon. Brown was released on bail after posting €5 million equivalent to approximately 8 billion Rwandan francs and appeared in court ten days later, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
