Amavubi National Team player, Byiringiro Lague, has announced that he will not return to the pitch for the remainder of this season and emphasized that he does not plan to play for any Rwandan clubs next season, stating the local league is no longer at his level.
Speaking on the Sunday Choice Live show this Sunday, the Police FC player asserted that his ambitions do not align with the current direction of Rwandan football. He noted that considering his career goals, the domestic league is no longer the right fit for him personally. This comes after the player was recently suspended indefinitely by Police FC for allegedly missing training sessions, though he maintains he was treated unfairly as he was absent due to illness.
Lague explained that his suspension was unexpected since he had submitted a medical report. He stated: “I was suspended indefinitely; they gave me a letter saying I wasn’t attending training yet I was sick. I had reported to our doctors and informed the leadership that I was unwell. I had even gone to the hospital for treatment and showed them the situation, so I don’t know what prompted them to suspend me.”
Beyond the issues of illness and training, Byiringiro Lague also spoke candidly about his troubles with traffic authorities regarding driving under the influence. The player admitted to having been detained three times for this offense, noting that his most recent six-day detention was spent at the Ruyenzi Police Station.
Regarding his future, the winger emphasized that he will not play for other popular Rwandan teams like Rayon Sports, as he intends to be playing outside of Rwanda next season. He said: “This season will end without me playing again. I don’t know anything about those [transfer] rumors. I wouldn’t play for Rayon Sports. There is no Rwandan team I want to play for next season. The Rwandan league is not at the level I wish to play at.”
