Antoine Hey returns to Africa after 7 years, appointed head coach of ES Sétif in Algeria

Antoine Hey, the German coach who once managed Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi, has returned to Africa after seven years working in Asia. He has been appointed head coach of ES Sétif, one of the top-flight clubs in Algeria’s Ligue 1.

The 54-year-old is well known in Rwanda, having coached the Amavubi between 2017 and early 2018. He was tasked with rebuilding the national team during a challenging period before moving to Myanmar, where he spent five years as head coach of the national team in Southeast Asia.

Hey returns to work on the African continent after previously managing national teams such as Kenya, Gambia, and Liberia before his stint in Rwanda.

His new role comes at a time when ES Sétif is aiming to reestablish itself among the top clubs competing in CAF competitions.
