The Rwanda Women’s National Basketball Team has begun preparations for the 2025 AfroBasket tournament, scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire from July 25 to August 3. The training camp officially kicked off, with the selected players starting work under the guidance of head coach Dr. Cheikh Sarr.

A total of 18 players have been called up, including both locally based athletes and those playing abroad, such as Ineza Sifa and Bella Murekatete. Ineza plays for Grand Canyon Antelopes in the United States, while Murekatete represents Toulouse Métropole Basket in France.
Among those who have already joined the camp are Mushikiwabo Sandrine, Tetero Odile, Irakoze Ange Nelly, Umunezero Lamla, Mwizerwa Faustine, Micomyiza Rosine Cisse, Butera Hope, and Gloriose Byukusenge — all from REG WBBC. Also present are Uwizeye Assouma, Umugwaneza Charlotte, and Kantore Sandra from APR WBBC.

Other players in camp include Uwimpuhwe Henriette from Kepler WBBC, Karinganire Gahozo Kellia from Azomco WBBC, Ishimwe Rebecca from The Hoops, and Vanessa Prissy Camara.
Most of the invited players come from top domestic clubs such as REG WBBC, APR WBBC, Kepler, Azomco, and The Hoops, with REG WBBC contributing the largest number.
In the previous AfroBasket held in Kigali in 2023, Rwanda finished in fourth place — its best-ever performance in the tournament. This time, Rwanda is placed in Group A alongside defending champions Nigeria and Mozambique.
