Haruna Niyonzima, who played for various clubs as well as the senior national team, Amavubi, has been tasked by FERWAFA to scout young talent through the Talent Development Scheme (TDS) competitions.

The Elite FIFA TDS Competitions were officially launched on March 14, 2026, at the Kamena Stadium in Huye District, aiming to promote and discover young football talent.
In these competitions, FERWAFA has established a dedicated technical team of coaches, including Haruna Niyonzima, who will be responsible for selecting young prospects.
Haruna Niyonzima served as the captain of Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi, and holds a CAF C Coaching License obtained in 2019, issued by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In addition to this, he is among the coaches who recently passed a training program conducted by Atletico Madrid coaches, and they will be heading to the club for further advanced training.

Haruna Niyonzima was born in Rubavu District in the area known as Madjengo and is a member of the Islamic faith. He played for Etincelles FC, Rayon Sports, APR FC, and AS Kigali, as well as Tanzanian clubs Simba SC and Yanga SC, and Al Ta’awon in Libya.
