The President of the Republic of Rwanda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Paul Kagame, promoted 632 officers who previously held the rank of Sous-Lieutenant to the rank of Lieutenant.
The promotion was announced in a statement released by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) on the morning of Saturday, October 4, 2025.
This follows an event that took place on Friday, October 3, 2025, where 1,029 new officers who joined the Rwanda Defence Force were given the rank of Sous-Lieutenant.
Among those who received the rank was Brian Kagame, the son of President Kagame.
