Rutsiro Residents Delighted by Kivu Beach Expo&Festival Held in Boneza

Residents of Rutsiro District, especially those from Boneza Sector, expressed great joy over the Kivu Beach Expo&Festival held on the shores of Lake Kivu, saying it was an event that showcased a new uniqueness in tourism and entertainment not usually seen in the area. The festival was organized by Yirunga Ltd in partnership with Rutsiro District and took place at Palega Beach Inn on December 9, 2025, attracting more than five thousand participants, including residents of Bugarura Island, which is home to about two thousand people.

Yves Iyamuremye, the Director of Yirunga Ltd, praised the good governance of the country, especially President Paul Kagame, saying that security and the way Rwanda empowers the youth are what make such activities possible. He said the opportunities found in Rutsiro encourage him to bring more entertainment and tourism initiatives that benefit the residents.
He said, “The joy I feel here is immense because we have systems that allow us to think well and implement projects that benefit the community and help uplift the youth.”

Kayitesi Dativa, the Executive Administrator of Rutsiro District, appreciated Yirunga Ltd and all institutions that collaborated in organizing the event, saying it showed that Rutsiro is capable of hosting major activities. She said the festival brought happiness and benefits to the residents and marked the beginning of further developing the district’s tourism, especially activities along Lake Kivu.
She said, “I appreciate the efforts put into the preparation of this event because they were fruitful. I thank Yirunga Ltd and the team they worked with, along with all our partners who did not disappoint us. We want such events to keep taking place here frequently.”

More than fifty exhibitors of various Made-in-Rwanda products participated, including handicrafts, pots, clothing, wooden items, food and beverages. They all indicated that on the first day alone, they had already gained significant profit and a new market from participants who came from different parts of Rutsiro.

Nsengiyumva François, popularly known as Igisupusupu, expressed his excitement about performing in Rutsiro District for the very first time.

He was warmly received by residents who came from all directions and was appreciated by district leaders for his contribution in bringing joy to the festival.
