Saudi Arabia Announces Project to Build a Sky Stadium to Host the 2034 World Cup

Saudi Arabia has announced a new project to build a state-of-the-art stadium named “Neom Sky Stadium”, which will be located in “The Line”, a futuristic city currently under development as part of the NEOM megaproject. The stadium is part of preparations for hosting the “2034 FIFA World Cup”, which Saudi Arabia has officially been awarded.

According to information published on the NEOM website, the stadium will have a capacity of around “46,000 spectators” and will be built using advanced, environmentally friendly technology. It is expected to operate entirely on renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, according to project officials.

Neom Sky Stadium is part of a broader investment strategy aimed at developing sports and entertainment infrastructure across Saudi Arabia. The project is expected to redefine the future of sustainable and innovative stadium design.

Although images circulating on social media depict the stadium as a “sky-high” structure, NEOM officials clarified that these renderings are conceptual and intended to illustrate the vision of the project, not the final design. However, it has been confirmed that the Sky Stadium will be built above ground, though the exact height has not yet been disclosed.

Saudi Arabia is also constructing “15 additional new stadiums”, including the “King Salman International Stadium” currently under construction in Riyadh, which will host more than 92,000 spectators by 2029. This effort is part of the country’s broader plan to prepare for the 2034 World Cup and to promote the development of the sports sector nationwide.

“FIFA” has expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s initiative to enhance football infrastructure and promote environmentally sustainable sports venues.
