On Tuesday, a vibrant crowd of University of Rwanda students gathered at the Main Auditorium, Huye Campus, for the Career Summit 2025, an annual flagship event designed to prepare students for the job market and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Journalist and CEO Mutesi Scovia captivated the audience with her message of determination and purpose. She urged students to seize their university education, emphasizing its rarity and the potential it holds to transform their lives and communities.
Following her talk, Rwandan musician Bruce Melody and artist Kitoko Bibarwa shared their personal journeys to success. Bruce Melody, who began his music career at 16, highlighted the importance of perseverance and hard work. “Ignoring discouraging voices and working hard are what helped me reach where I am today. The most important thing is to have goals and never give up,” he said.
Students attending the summit expressed how the event reshaped their thinking about their futures. Ishimwe Jean Sauveur, a third-year Social Work student, said it helped him focus on creating work that addresses societal problems rather than just seeking employment. First-year student Manishimwe Jean Baptiste was inspired by the emphasis on goal-setting, while business student Mutoni Solange found the summit a valuable opportunity for self-reflection and preparation for the job market.
The Career Summit 2025 reinforced the University of Rwanda’s commitment to nurturing innovation, creativity, and resilience in its students. By connecting them with accomplished professionals and industry leaders, the event equipped participants with insights and motivation to thrive in their careers and make meaningful contributions to society.
