On January 12, 2026, in Kiyombe Sector, twenty youths were awarded certificates after completing vocational training in plumbing.
The graduates expressed their appreciation to the Government for providing them with vocational training, saying that the skills acquired will help them become self-reliant and contribute to national development through self-employment.
The Acting Mayor of Nyagatare District, Kakooza Henry, said that in an effort to address youth unemployment, the Government established vocational training programs and set up technical schools in various areas to provide opportunities to all youth.

He urged the graduates to avoid going elsewhere only to stay idle, but instead to take responsibility for seeking employment and making good use of the skills they acquired.
He said, “The Government has prioritized vocational skills because they enable graduates to create their own jobs. The knowledge you gained here should be put to good use. Do not stay at home; instead, work with others related to your field who can support you. These opportunities help youth create jobs, work, and improve their livelihoods. They also help the Government fight crime and unemployment.”

He added, “Avoid distractions, maintain discipline and clear goals, and work hard to achieve them. You will progress and contribute to the development of the country. There are many opportunities out there—if you use them properly, you will improve your lives.”
The youths completed the plumbing training over a period of six months at Cyondo Technical Secondary School (Cyondo TSS).
Out of the twenty graduates, ten were female and ten were male.
