FAITH leaders and community representatives came together at the Ramakrishna Vedanta Centre in Zambia for the “Born to Be Loved: Dignity, Faith and Action” event. Organized by HWPL and other partners, the gathering promoted peace, justice, and human dignity.
Dr. Kelvin Mambwe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, highlighted the importance of peace education in schools. A new pilot program aims to embed peace education into Zambia’s national curriculum, nurturing learners who know their worth, show empathy, and drive collective progress.
Speakers emphasized the need for interfaith cooperation to tackle challenges like child neglect and social inequality. Dr. Christopher Kalila urged united action to protect children’s rights and dignity, saying, “You cannot vaccinate a child against violence, but you can teach peace.”

The event featured a live Religious Peace Academy, interfaith booths, and the unveiling of Zambia’s fourth Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) Peace Signboard. By recognizing our own worth and protecting others’ dignity, participants echoed the event’s message: “Born to Be Loved.”
Through this gathering, faith leaders and community representatives aimed to create a more harmonious and equitable society, promoting peace, justice, and human dignity for all.
