Somalia’s National Agri-Food Investment Summit (NAFIS), organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, kicked off in #Mogadishu on Monday under the theme “Unlocking investment opportunities to empower and transform Somalia’s agri-food sector for a sustainable and resilient future.”
The summit brought together key stakeholders from the government, private sector, and international organizations to discuss strategies for enhancing agricultural productivity, improving food security, and fostering economic growth within the country.
During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture Mohamed Abdi Hayir emphasized the importance of collaboration among all sectors to attract investment and innovation in the agri-food industry.
Participants also had the opportunity to showcase their projects and initiatives aimed at revitalizing the agricultural sector, with a focus on promoting local produce and creating job opportunities for the youth.
As Somalia seeks to rebuild its economy and enhance food sovereignty, NAFIS serves as a platform to highlight the vast potential of the agri-food sector and the critical need for investment to unlock that potential.
