Jules Karangwa Appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Premier League

After six years of service at the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), Jules Karangwa has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Premier League, a newly established body tasked with organizing and advancing the country’s top-tier football competition.

He is set to officially assume his new role on September 1, 2025, at a time when the Rwanda Premier League is embarking on a new chapter of autonomy and independent operations, separate from FERWAFA’s traditional governance structure.

Karangwa takes on this position following various roles he has held within FERWAFA since 2019. He began as a Legal Advisor and later took on additional responsibilities, including Head of Competitions, Acting Secretary-General, and Deputy Spokesperson. These roles provided him with extensive experience in the internal workings of football administration.

In his new role, Karangwa is expected to enhance the governance and overall image of the national league, drawing from his expertise and experience both locally and internationally. He is also known for his work with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), where he has served as a Match Coordinator in continental competitions—experience that gives him a broader understanding of league management at the continental level.

Karangwa brings with him modern football management knowledge, gained through various trainings across African football associations. He has also contributed to training programs for football professionals in several countries, a background that is expected to help improve the quality of Rwanda’s top league.

He is also recognized for his background in media, having worked with several outlets including Radio Salus, Royal TV, and Radio & TV10.
