Six Additional Charges Added to Djihad by RIB Following Distribution of Yampano’s Explicit Video

The spokesperson of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Dr. Murangira B. Thierry, announced that Cyprien Uzabakiriho, known as Djihad, was already being investigated for six offenses, including those whose complaints had been submitted to the prosecution and others still under investigation.

In recent days, an explicit video of the artist Yampano engaging in sexual activity with her partner, who she claims is her husband, circulated on social media.

Among those investigated for distributing Yampano’s video were Cyprien Uzabakiriho, known as Djihad, and Kwizera Nestor, who goes by Pappy Nesta. Both were arrested and immediately brought before the court.

Djihad’s file was submitted to the prosecution one day after his arrest because it was considered an “addition,” as there were others being investigated in his case.

From March 18, 2022, to November 9, 2025, Djihad had been charged with nine offenses. However, RIB spokesperson Dr. Murangira B. Thierry said that upon review, six of these were deemed prosecutable in court, while three were personal matters.

Dr. Murangira B. Thierry stated that he had repeatedly advised Djihad, but the discussions were ignored.

He said: “After seeing all these matters, we discussed them. I told him that even though he has a prominent name, the law is above it. I advised him to work in showbiz and earn money, but to write things he should avoid. However, he ignored all of it. He is someone we often meet in journalist trainings, so he knows what he is doing.”

The six charges Djihad faced relate to spreading false information, distributing pornographic videos, or inciting defamation using pornographic content. Some of these had been submitted to the prosecution, while others remain under investigation.
