The artist Iradukunda Aimable, widely known as Yugi Umukaraza, has been arrested by the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) following a complaint filed by Mbabazi Shadia, famously known as Shaddyboo, who accuses him of raping her.
The arrest of Yugi Umukaraza was confirmed by the RIB Spokesperson, Dr. Murangira B. Thierry, who stated that the young man is currently detained at the Kimironko Police Station while investigations continue to determine the truth regarding the allegations against him.

This matter began sparking widespread discussion after Shaddyboo announced that she was raped on the night of June 21, 2026, after Yugi Umukaraza had visited her at her home.
According to Shaddyboo, they already knew each other and were friends. She states that they shared drinks that evening, but she later woke up in the morning completely naked.

She said, “I woke up and found myself naked, which made me suspect that I was assaulted while I was with Yugi sharing drinks.”
Shadia’s complaint was immediately received by RIB, and she was provided with support through the Isange One Stop Center, as is standard procedure for individuals who report experiencing sexual violence.
RIB reminds the public that anyone accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. It also urged social media users to refrain from publishing information that could prejudice the case or compromise the ongoing investigation.
He stated, “Social media users should avoid passing judgment or using defamatory language against anyone (whether the accuser or the accused).”
Yugi Umukaraza is an instructor at the Rwanda School of Creative Arts and Music (RSCAM), located in the Muhanga District.
The crime of rape is stipulated under Article 134 of the law determining offenses and penalties in general. If found guilty by a court, the offense carries a prison sentence of 10 to 15 years and a fine ranging between one and two million Rwandan francs.
