Zambia has underscored its unwavering commitment to peace and security across the globe.
The commitment was made at the 2026 United Nations Contingent-Owned Equipment (COE) Working Group official opening at UN Headquarters.
Delivering the country’s statement at the meeting, Deputy Zambia Army Commander Major General Luswepo Sinyinza, urged the Working Group, UN funders, and cooperating partners to seriously review the dynamics of peacekeeping environment.
Maj. Gen. Sinyinza called for the 2026 COE deliberations to translate into tangible deliverables that support the Action for Peacekeeping Plus (A4P+) agenda, ultimately enhancing the safety and impact of peacekeepers worldwide.
“The 2026 COE is critical as it will help shape the financial and operational frameworks for effective peacekeeping operations,” he said.
Discussions on equipment standards and reimbursement rates are vital as they enable Troop Contributing Countries like Zambia to deploy safely and fulfill complex mandates.
He noted that Zambia’s participation aligns with its Foreign Policy of championing multilateralism and peacekeeping missions as cornerstone of global peace and stability.
Maj General Sinyinza was accompanied by Senior Officials from Zambia Army and Ministry of Defence.
This is according to a statement issued by Namatama Njekwa, First Secretary for Press and Public Relations, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations.
