RIB Arrests Three People for Illegally Acquiring Land That Was Not Their

The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested Munyantore Christian, a notary impersonating a land notary, Orikiriza Moses, a former land surveyor, and their accomplice Ufiteyezu Jean Marie, who are accused of crimes including fraudulently acquiring property and using forged documents.

The three are suspected of scheming to register land that was not theirs, intending to sell it with the help of an independent land notary. They are now under investigation for committing fraud by altering the landowner’s identity and creating fake documents.

Munyantore, Orikiriza, and Ufiteyezu are currently detained at the RIB Rusororo station while their case is being processed for submission to the Prosecutor’s Office. This is a significant step in combating land-related crimes and curbing corruption within land sectors.

RIB warns all individuals with legal authority to use it solely for their own personal interests. It also advises people to be cautious when purchasing land, urging them to first verify sufficient information through *651# of @Lands_Rwanda and to promptly report anyone selling land through illegal means.

This initiative highlights RIB’s role in combating land fraud and preventing illegal land transactions.
