The accused in the Yampano explicit video case defended themselves during their appeal

On Monday, December 29, 2025, the Nyarugenge High Council Court heard an appeal against a decision issued by the Kicukiro Primary Court on December 17, 2025, which ordered the provisional detention of Djihad, Pazzo Man, Papy Nesta, and François Xavier for 30 days, while K John was released on provisional bail.

The hearing lasted one hour and forty minutes and focused on examining whether the lower court’s decision had been made in accordance with the law and the evidence contained in the case file. The accused and their legal representatives explained why they believe the provisional detention was unjustified.

Pazzo Man, a former advisor to Yampano, admitted that he possessed Yampano’s videos and had access to his email account, but denied that the material he sent to others consisted of Yampano’s explicit videos. He further explained that several other people also had access to the same email account.

Papy Nesta acknowledged requesting the videos out of curiosity but claimed he had no intention of distributing them, although the lower court had found that the manner in which he requested and shared the videos could indicate an intent to circulate them.

The prosecution stated that it was satisfied with the Kicukiro Primary Court’s decision and requested that the provisional detention remain in place while investigations continue.

The Nyarugenge High Council Court announced that the ruling on the appeal will be delivered on January 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
