“A Unique Camping Experience in the North”: How Children Gained Knowledge, Culture, and Discipline

On July 20th, 2025, in the Musanze district, a unique children’s camping program kicked off, organized by Tamayuz International Academy—an educational institution renowned for its excellence and the use of the Cambridge curriculum, commonly used in European countries such as the United Kingdom. This initiative aimed to nurture intellectually curious children with strong Islamic values, a deep respect for Rwandan culture, and the confidence to express themselves and think critically.

The camping program lasted for one week, from July 20th to 26th. It brought together children from various parts of Rwanda and the diaspora. Many learned about the program through social media announcements, while others joined due to their familiarity with the high standards of Tamayuz. Participation was open even to children who do not attend the school, and all shared a common desire to learn and connect with others.

Children participated in a wide range of hands-on and modern educational activities. They learned to make hand sanitizer and body cream using equipment provided in the school’s science laboratory. These sessions were led by a chemistry expert teaching at the school. Additionally, participants were trained in robotics, photography, and responsible use of phones and websites. These sessions were conducted by experienced educators, including one teacher from Denmark with 26 years of teaching experience.
