Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, who has captured the hearts of many through her distinctive music, is set to perform in Rwanda for the first time. The concert will take place on August 2, 2025, and is organized by Giants of Africa, an organization dedicated to empowering African youth through sports and the arts.

Since 2021, Ayra Starr has been highly sought after by various players in Kigali’s entertainment and business scenes, who attempted to bring her for concerts and events such as the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Despite several discussions, those efforts fell through due to her high performance fees and strict requirements regarding preparation and her accompanying team.

Reliable sources confirm that Ayra Starr requested at least $150,000 (over Rwf 200 million), five-star hotel accommodation, a Business Class flight, security services, and logistical support for a team of 10 to 20 people. These demands were considered too costly for local investors, resulting in no formal agreements being reached.

It had become widely accepted that Ayra Starr was out of reach for Kigali-based promoters—until Giants of Africa managed to secure her appearance. The organization, founded by Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri, is known for promoting African talent and announced that the artist will headline the closing event of their upcoming week-long program in Kigali.

The concert is expected to feature major artists including The Ben, Timaya, and Kizz Daniel. This will be Ayra Starr’s first performance in Rwanda and one of the biggest shows hosted by Giants of Africa in Kigali, a city increasingly seen as a hub for international entertainment and sporting events.
Ayra Starr, who rose to fame after signing with Mavin Records, is best known for songs like “Away” and “Bloody Samaritan.” She is recognized as one of the leading female artists in Afrobeats and continues to hold a prominent place in Africa’s contemporary music scene.
