Rwandan footballer Yves Kimenyi and Miss Uwase Muyango, who was crowned Miss Photogenic in Miss Rwanda 2019, have started legal separation proceedings after five years since their relationship first gained public attention.
On Friday, the two began this process at the Kibagabaga Court, where their case was held behind closed doors. Despite being in court, Muyango and Kimenyi sat together chatting as if there were no issues between them.
Their legal separation comes after a period of rumors that they were no longer living together.
Yves Kimenyi and Uwase Muyango’s relationship started making headlines in 2019, when both had already become famous. Muyango had risen to fame in Miss Rwanda 2019, while Kimenyi was playing for top teams in Rwanda.
In February 2021, Kimenyi proposed to Muyango as they prepared for their wedding. In August of the same year, they welcomed a baby boy named Kimenyi Miguel Yanis.
In late 2023, they announced their upcoming wedding, and Muyango had her bridal shower in December 2023.
In January 2024, they were legally married, followed by their wedding ceremony on January 6, 2024, where they were officiated by Bishop Karemera Emmanuel at Living Word Church, in an event attended by various celebrities.
Yves Kimenyi has played for teams including APR FC, Rayon Sports, Kiyovu Sports, AS Kigali, as well as the Rwanda national team, Amavubi.
