APR BBC has once again proven to be the dominant team in Rwandan basketball after winning this year’s national championship, securing the title for the third consecutive time. This came after an 81-72 victory over REG BBC in Game 5 of the playoffs, held at BK Arena on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The army side entered the game needing a win to clinch the title, while REG BBC was fighting to extend the series and keep their hopes alive. The match began at a high intensity, with both teams competing closely, leading to a 35-35 tie at halftime.
APR BBC took control in the third and final quarters, thanks to strong performances from Youssoupha Ndoye, Antino Jackson, and Adonis Filer. Their efforts allowed APR to create a significant lead in the closing minutes of the game, extending the margin to 11 points.
In addition to lifting the championship trophy, APR BBC received a cash prize of 15 million Rwandan Francs. Their players and coaching staff also stood out in individual awards. Youssoupha Ndoye was named the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs, receiving a 2 million Rwandan Francs reward, while James Maye was named Coach of the Year.
Players from other teams also excelled. Jean Jacques Boissy of REG BBC was the season’s top scorer, while Elliot Cole of Patriots BBC made the most three-point shots. Garba Chingka Kennedy of Orion BBC was named Best Defender, and Kayondo Eric of UGB BBC was recognized as the Most Improved Player of the season
