APR FC once again proved why it remains one of Rwanda’s top and most popular football clubs after defeating Zambia’s Power Dynamos 2-0 in a friendly match held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium.
The match was part of the “Inkera y’Abahizi” festivities – an initiative organized by APR FC to engage with its supporters through football and entertainment.
Despite a strong performance on the field, the event was marked by a noticeably low fan turnout, with large sections of the stadium left empty. This raised eyebrows among local football observers, especially considering APR FC’s stature and the level of support it typically enjoys.

From the first whistle, APR FC showed intent to dominate, proving that their objective went beyond celebration – they were out to make a statement. Striker Cheikh Djibril Ouattara was the standout performer, scoring both goals in the second half.
The first goal came in the 49th minute from a well-delivered free kick by Ruboneka Jean Bosco, while the second followed just five minutes later, capitalizing on a defensive error by Power Dynamos.
While the on-field result was positive, APR FC is left with something to reflect on regarding fan engagement and attendance. Inkera y’Abahizi, envisioned as a platform to strengthen the bond between the club and its supporters, may now serve as a turning point in addressing this growing concern.
