In a move to accommodate both visitors and residents during the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has announced temporary changes to operating hours for businesses and entertainment venues in Kigali. From September 19 to 28, 2025, bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and shops will be allowed to operate until 4:00 AM.
These temporary measures are aimed at helping the country successfully host the international cycling event, which brings together athletes and fans from over 110 countries. Kigali becomes the first African city to host this annual championship, now in its 98th edition.
While operating hours have been extended, RDB emphasized that existing regulations governing bars particularly those related to alcohol service and public safety must still be observed. Notably, alcohol must not be served to individuals under the age of 18, and all patrons are encouraged to drink responsibly.
