Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi, former Minister of Local Government, has returned to public service after being appointed as a member of the Board of Commissioners at the Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission.
This change follows the resolutions of the Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame on Wednesday. Gatabazi joins the Commission led by Nyirahabineza Valerie, with Maj Gen (Rtd) Jacques Nziza as Vice Chairperson.
Gatabazi returns to leadership after being removed from government in November 2022, where he had served as Minister of Local Government since March 2021. Prior to that, he was Governor of the Northern Province and had also served as a Member of Parliament.
Although Gatabazi had previously faced challenges related to his performance in various roles, he has often apologized and been reinstated to public service
