The famous artist from Uganda and the East African region, Jose Chameleone, officially opened his new radio station in the city of Bujumbura in Burundi, naming it Chameleone FM 94.9.
This radio station was opened as part of fulfilling a promise Chameleone had made to the President of Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye, during his visit to the country in December 2025.
At that time, Chameleone had promised the Head of State that he would invest in the Burundian media sector in order to strengthen good relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Chameleone FM 94.9 has already started broadcasting in the city of Bujumbura and its surrounding areas, focusing mainly on music, entertainment, youth programs, and culture, with particular attention to the East African region.
This radio station will also provide significant space for Burundian artists’ talents and will promote music from the region as well as international music.
In his speech during the inauguration ceremony, Jose Chameleone said that the radio aims to be a platform that connects people through music, news, and culture, adding that the investment he made in Burundi is based on the long-standing relationship he has with the people of this country.
