On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the Police Volleyball Club officially launched its boys’ and girls’ volleyball academy.
The academy is based at Lycée de Kigali, located in Rugunga.
This partnership comes as part of POLICE VC’s strategic mission to develop the sport of volleyball by nurturing young talent, which led to the establishment of this academy.
The launch event was attended by several dignitaries, including the President of the Rwandan Volleyball Federation (FRVB), Raphael Ngarambe, and Vice President Zawadi Geoffrey.
Representing Police VC was the club’s secretary, Supt Ntakirutimana Diane, along with the head of Lycée de Kigali, Brother Imfurayase Jean.
In his speech, the LDK head commended Police VC for the initiative and pledged the school’s full cooperation in supporting young talent.
He stated:
“We thank you for choosing LDK among the many schools in Kigali. We are ready and willing to collaborate with you.”
Supt Diane, the secretary of POLICE VC, remarked:
“We believe these young players will grow into great athletes characterized by discipline, commitment, and dedication.”
The President of the Volleyball Federation praised POLICE VC and reaffirmed the club’s leadership in the sport.
He said:
“Police VC is currently leading in sports with this outstanding initiative. We highly commend you, and hope others will follow your example.”
“This is a great initiative because it’s aimed at promoting sports development.”
To mark the academy’s opening, Police Volleyball announced that the girls’ team will be coached by Masumbuko Jean De Dieu, while the boys’ team will be under the guidance of Iradukunda Yves, both of whom are seasoned coaches from top-level teams.
Police Volleyball also donated sports equipment to support the young players in their training.
The donated items included sportswear for both boys and girls, volleyballs, and nets.
