Isibo FM journalist, Mugenzi Faustin, known as Faustinho, announced the 11 best players combined from Rayon Sports and APR FC ahead of their upcoming Super Cup match scheduled for January 10, 2026, at the renovated Stade Amahoro, as confirmed by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA).
Speaking to InyaRwanda Sports TV, Faustinho first analyzed the current state of these teams in the league, noting that neither has reached the high standard they usually demonstrate. He said: “To be honest, I wouldn’t say APR FC and Rayon Sports are performing well. Looking at Gikundiro, you can see they haven’t hit their stride, they have players still recovering from injuries, but they have brought in a new coach who will help improve their style of play.”
Regarding APR FC, Faustinho highlighted their advantage due to familiarity with Stade Amahoro and the quality of their players. He said: “APR FC has a chance to win at this stadium, their players know it well, they have good players, many of whom are called up to their national teams. The only concern I would raise is the coach’s ability to coordinate their play effectively.”
After this analysis, Faustinho announced the 11 best players based on their performance in the league so far. In goal, he included Ishimwe Pierre of APR FC. In defense, he selected Byiringiro Jean Gilbert, Niyomugabo Claude, and Nshimiyimana Yunusu of APR FC, along with Youssou Diagne of Rayon Sports. In midfield, he chose Ronald Ssekiganda of APR FC, alongside Ndayishimiye Richard and Tony Kitoga of Rayon Sports. In attack, he picked Tambwe Gloire and Ndikumana Asman of Rayon Sports together with Cheick Djibril Ouattara of APR FC.
Although APR FC has the most players in this 11, Faustinho indicated that he believes Rayon Sports has a higher chance of winning the trophy. He said: “In my view, Rayon Sports has the advantage to win the Super Cup due to their preparations and the historical record of these teams in this competition.” He recalled that in the last Super Cup match in 2023, Rayon Sports defeated APR FC 3-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium.
FERWAFA announced that the team winning the Super Cup will receive 20 million Rwandan francs, while the runner-up will get 10 million, applicable to both men’s and women’s teams, with Rayon Sports WFC facing Indahangarwa at 3:00 PM at Stade Amahoro.
