A fuel truck traveling from Nyanza to Kicukiro was involved in an accident last night at a location known as “Ku Banyamakuru” on the way to Kicukiro Centre. The truck ran over cars, motorcycles, and a fuel station, killing five people.
This morning, Tuesday, the Rwanda National Police confirmed that five people have died, while nine others were injured and are receiving treatment at various hospitals across Kigali.
The accident occurred around 8:40 PM on December 22, 2025, just above the Kicukiro bridge, when the large truck carrying petroleum products ran over six other vehicles, 11 motorcycles, and a fuel station.
After the accident, the Rwanda National Police immediately carried out emergency rescue operations. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the crash.
