Nyagatare District residents closed 2025 with a spirit of unity and forward-looking optimism during the fourth edition of Inkera y’Imparirwakurusha, an event that celebrated achievements, welcomed new leadership, and set the stage for strategic planning in 2026.
The event, attended by community leaders, stakeholders, and residents, highlighted the importance of leadership transitions as an opportunity to reinforce collaboration and collective responsibility. Governor of Eastern Province, Rubingisa Pudence, praised the organizers and emphasized that welcoming the new District Mayor through such a public celebration is a testament to the cooperative spirit that defines Rwandan communities.

“While celebrating the New Year is important, it is equally essential torareflect on our successes and challenges, so that we can approach 2026 with clear goals and renewed determination,” Governor Pudence said.
He further underlined Nyagatare’s historical significance in Rwanda’s liberation struggle, urging residents to leverage this legacy to fuel both personal and national development.
Newly inaugurated Mayor Kakooza Henry also addressed the audience, expressing gratitude to partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event. He highlighted that Inkera y’Imparirwakurusha serves as more than a celebration—it is a strategic platform to assess past achievements, identify areas for improvement, and chart actionable plans for the coming year.

“This event allows us to celebrate the milestones of 2025 while reflecting on what we can do better in 2026. It is a moment to align our efforts towards sustainable development and enhanced livelihoods for our communities,” Mayor Kakooza remarked.
