Ingabire Marie Immaculée, who was the Chairperson of Transparency International Rwanda, an organization that fights against corruption and injustice, passed away after a long illness.
The sad news emerged on the morning of Thursday, October 9, 2025. Transparency International Rwanda confirmed the news of Ingabire Marie Immaculée’s passing through a post on X.
They wrote:
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the Chairperson of Transparency International Rwanda, Ingabire Marie Immaculée, who passed away on the morning of October 9, 2025, after a period of illness. Transparency International Rwanda extends condolences to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.”
Ingabire Immaculée, who passed away at the age of 64, was one of the 20 founding members of Transparency International Rwanda in 2004 and was later elected as Chairperson in 2015.
She was a strong advocate for human rights, particularly known for defending the rights of women. She was admired by many for her outspoken nature and for speaking truthfully.
