Journalist Jean Pierre Kagabo has resigned from RBA, where he had worked for 22 years. Kagabo began working for RBA, which was then called ORINFOR, in 2003 before it became RBA.
Jean Pierre Kagabo said he decided to resign after getting another job opportunity elsewhere but emphasized that he would not leave journalism because it is part of him.
He said: “You can’t leave journalism when it’s within you.”
In his career journey, Kagabo worked in different parts of the country. From 2010 to 2013, he headed ORINFOR offices in Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru before being transferred to the headquarters of Radio Rwanda in Kigali. He covered various assignments in journalism, including international stories about the activities of Rwandan troops in the Central African Republic and Cabo Delgado.
Among the most memorable moments, Kagabo mentioned hosting President Paul Kagame in an interview as one of the greatest achievements in his career, and he expressed gratitude to RBA for the opportunity to serve Rwandans.
He also said that he resigned while serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Rwanda Television, a position he had held since 2018, and he was also hosting the program Imboni.
Although he will no longer work for RBA, Kagabo said he will continue engaging in journalism through modern platforms such as podcasts and his YouTube channel called KP Media.
He said: “I want to continue contributing to journalism through discussions about general life and Rwanda’s development.”
Jean Pierre Kagabo expressed appreciation to RBA as an institution that nurtured him in his profession, emphasizing that he will continue to consider it as a family that gave him the opportunity to serve Rwandans.
