No filming or professional cameras allowed at Doja Cat’s concert photographers granted access for first three songs only

International superstar Doja Cat has joined the ranks of other artists performing in Kigali who have implemented strict regulations regarding how their shows are documented for social media and the press.
The ticketing platform www.ticqet.rw indicated this Tuesday, March 17, 2026, that all tickets have been cleared from the system, marking a ‘Sold Out’ status.

Despite this high demand, Global Citizen, the organizers of the concert, specified that essential requirements include a ban on filming with standard cameras, with only mobile phones being permitted for easy use.

Regarding photography, those authorized to capture her image are restricted to the first three songs, with only 108 seconds allotted for shooting before equipment must be stored. The use of flash is also prohibited.

However, recording video with mobile phones is allowed. This is not an isolated incident, as similar regulations were seen during Kendrick Lamar’s performance in Rwanda in 2023, where such rules aligned with those given to his production team.

Items prohibited from the concert venue include: Metal bottles, professional video cameras, knives, banners promoting political movements or parties, specific ideologies, religions, or corporate advertisements.

Other banned items include objects that could be thrown and cause injury, balloons and balls, weapons or explosive materials, motorcycles and helmets, and outside food and drinks (as these are available within the Arena). Cables or wires used for hanging objects, animals, laptops and tablets, unauthorized recording devices, drones, noise-making instruments like vuvuzelas and whistles, speakers, and selfie sticks are also forbidden.

The concert will take place at the BK Arena in Kigali, where fans are requested to bring only permitted items and follow all guidelines to ensure a positive experience. The event is held today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Move Afrika is a Global Citizen initiative aimed at tackling global injustice by providing employment and business opportunities for African youth through annual music events.

This program enables African artists to showcase their talents on an international stage, promotes community investment, and provides vocational training for young people.

In 2025, Move Afrika prioritized an advocacy agenda based on sustainable development and the economy, specifically within the health sector. It called on African nations to increase health investment, promote primary healthcare, reproductive rights, and health, and reduce the financial burden on countries to strengthen public health systems.

The inaugural Move Afrika concert in Rwanda, held in Kigali in December 2023 and headlined by Kendrick Lamar, demonstrated success in job creation, training, and supporting youth in business.

That event employed over 1,000 Rwandans, with 75% of the staff being locals, and remains one of the most popular music events in Rwanda, featuring performances by artists such as Zuchu, Bruce Melodie, DJ TOXXYK, Sherrie Silver, Ariel Wayz, Kivumbi King, and Bruce The 1st.
