While many artists still focus on local audiences, Davis D stands out as one of the few who have chosen a more challenging yet visionary path. His new song Shoke, a collaboration with rising female artist Soso, is part of a broader journey aimed at elevating Rwandan music to an international level. This is no ordinary release Shoke was planned and produced in Turkey, a country known for its strong creative industry and technological capabilities. Though the process demanded significant effort, it gave Davis D a greater sense of purpose and belief in the power of his craft.

In an interview with local media, Davis D explained that working abroad is never easy, but it’s a necessary step for any artist seeking to grow beyond familiar borders. His creative direction is rooted in intentional, well-thought-out projects, and he emphasizes that his work is as much about visual and artistic quality as it is about sound.
Shoke also reflects Davis D’s long-term mission of supporting emerging female artists. For over three years, he has dedicated himself to giving promising women in music a platform not by starting a label, but by showcasing their talent to a wider audience. He did the same with Melissa on the track My Dreams, and now with Soso, continuing a pattern of mentorship without ownership. In his words, he doesn’t plan to create a label, but rather to open doors for others to invest in these talents.

His approach to music is not casual or for personal gratification; it’s a profession. His portfolio includes more than six tracks recorded in Dubai, along with ongoing projects that have reached audiences in countries like France and Belgium. Notably, Davis D avoids discussing the financial cost of his work, choosing instead to let the quality of his output speak for itself. For him, investing heavily is not a burden, but a means to achieve higher standards.
Currently, he is preparing for major performances across Europe, including shows in France and Norway, as well as appearances at international art and music festivals. These upcoming events are further proof that Davis D is no longer just a local star he is carving a space for Rwandan music on the global stage with professionalism, vision, and investment.
